Latest Pictures and Video

Here are a couple of nice photos that I took yesterday morning and couldn't resist. Isn't our little girl lovely?

It's odd to see your expressions on your children's faces and this is definitely one of mine (that I also share with my brother):

And, a little video to show you her latest "dance" moves:

Apologies

Louisa's 8 month update has not been posted yet because I am current sans computer. I cracked my laptop screen a while back and the university is in the process of fixing it which has resulted in me relying on a "loaner computer" and being without my files for the past week. I'm still on the loaner computer, but I hope to have my own back shortly. When I do, then I've got LOTS of pictures of Easter, etc. that I will post online.

Until then, here's a picture taken by a friend of ours last Saturday of Louisa in her "party dress."

Who knew rubber coasters and plastic measuring cups/spoons could be so tasty and fun?

Gypsy Rose...?

Elisabeth had some fun with Louisa and one of her scarves earlier this week. How do you like our little Gypsy Girl?

8 Month Update

Better late than never, right? The more observant of you will notice that I'm pre-dating this post back to April 11th which was the day that Louisa turned 8 months old. Unfortunately, I was without my computer for all of last week, so I didn't have access to my pictures and couldn't really post a good blog post without them (because I know what you *really* want are pictures!). So, here's the 411 on how Louisa is growing:

She is a little over 19 pounds now and approximately 28 inches long. She still fits into size 2 shoes, but barely. She can wear the 12 month-sized clothes and the sleeves and pant legs are a little long on her but not too much. Her hair is still wavy and blonde and her eye color appears to have stabilized as a bluish-green-gray sort of color. Nice of her to settle on a combination of her parents' eye colors, huh? Everyone remarks on what pretty coloring she has and what nice skin tone--she's not pasty pale and definitely has rosy cheeks.

She's sitting up really well now and can flip over from her back to her stomach and pop up on to her hands and knees so quickly that it's a little frightening. She's still rocking back and forth and better at crawling backwards. Although to be perfectly honest, it's not so much a crawl as it is a general wiggling movement behind her. She's made forward movement a couple of times, but not enough that I can claim she's really crawling (at least I don't think so--the other moms in our playgroup disagree).

Most importantly, she now has TWO teeth! They're both on the bottom. The first one popped through around Easter Sunday and within a week, we saw the second one appear. She's eating solid food now (when we can remember to give it to her--breastfeeding is just so much easier) and she's been using those teeth to gnaw on a partially peeled banana, much to her father's dismay. He was hoping she had inherited his dislike of bananas! She's eating carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, pears, apples, and bananas. We have tried feeding her summer squash and she was having NONE of it. Ditto for asparagus. So, we are planning on trying some butternut squash this evening to see how she likes it instead. We're hopeful since it's closer to sweet potatoes than summer squash is.

And now what you've all been waiting for....pictures and video!

'nuff said.

Ich bin kein Affe, Mama!

Someone had her first encounter with bananas earlier this week:

I think someone might share her father's aversion to bananas?

Bockbierfest

Louisa enjoyed her second event at the Turn Verein in Sacramento, Bockbierfest. She didn't partake in the getranke, but her parents did! We met friends and had a nice time, but we did turn in early once Louisa started getting sleepy ~8:30pm.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Louisa got to meet her cousins, Rylan and Rachel, on April Fool's Day when we flew to Texas for her grandfather's 60th birthday. I think this is my favorite photo:

Here are a few more shots from earlier that afternoon of lil Lulu meeting her cousins for the first time:

I think all the commotion was a bit much though because after about 15 minutes, she wanted to sit in my lap and nurse. She started to look a little dazed and overwhelmed by all the energy of the Big Kids:
