Princess Tea Party

IMG_7304

Lulu was invited to a playdate with her friend Scotland during the school break this week.  They decorated strawberries and clementine pieces with chocolate and had a princess tea party.  Pretty fun stuff!

Happy Valentine's Day

This year Lulu and I decorated heart-shaped salt dough ornaments together with pink and red paint.  I thought it would be sweet to hang them from the tree as a decoration for Valentine's Day. They didn't enjoy the morning dew very much, but it was sweet while it lasted!

I also bought a small heart-shaped box of chocolates for Lulu and the soundtrack to the Annie movie we saw together over Christmas vacation.

Theo just enjoyed being our present.

And I found a heart-shaped braid to put in Lulu's hair.

She tried to return the favor.

Disney On Ice!

Earlier this fall, Summer, Debbie, and I went in together and bought tickets for the girls to see Disney on Ice as a Girl Scout troop event.  I didn't tell Lulu where we were going, so it was a BIG surprise!

We met up with everyone at In-N-Out before the show and then caravan-ed (is that a word?) over to Arco Arena together.  Walter and Theo stayed behind for a little father-son bonding, so this was  a big deal for Lulu and me.  Because it was a troop event, the girls all wore their Daisy vests and sat in the row in front of us (advantage of nosebleed seats--not worrying about a lot of people sitting next to you!).  The girls had a great time and loved watching all the ice skating, especially the requisite princess stuff.

Theo's first trip to the park

Lulu and I took Theo to the park this afternoon.  We did some swinging and seesawing, but the slides were the biggest hit.  Sort of.

Uncle Stephan!

Uncle Stephan and Kari came to see us!

Lulu was so excited--we scouted out where to take them to dinner when they arrived on Thursday night.  We settled on a new pizza place near Lowbrau called Pieology because they had gluten free pizza and you can select your own toppings.  Then we went to LowBrau and had beer and pretzels before going to bed.

Lulu had school the next day which gave the adults a chance to hang out and visit.  Then, Lulu came home from school and she fell in love (hard!) with Kari.  They read books and played together and had a great time.  She was so sad when they left and has mentioned several times since they've been gone how much she misses them.  She can rattle off the names of Kari's children (whom she's only met once at the wedding!) and talks about the things she wants to do when we see her again.  :)

We made fish tacos, at Lulu's suggestion because they have gluten free tortillas at Whole Foods) for dinner and had a great time.  We talked about a potential camping trip to Great Basin this summer is schedules align before turning in for the night.

Then, they had to go home the next day.  Sniff!  We miss you both!!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Happiest of birthdays to the best dad out there.  I couldn't do it without you.

The kids got him a new key fob from Coach with a discreet bottle opener for those times you need to drink and drive....

Super Bowl Sunday

Like any red-blooded American family, we went wine-tasting on Super Bowl Sunday.  Boeger was open and we had the place to ourselves, so we brought a spread of things to nibble on while we were there.

Lulu enjoyed her chocolate peanut butter and strawberry jam with some pink lemonade while we had a variety of cheeses, fruits, and nuts.

Five months

IMG_7097_2

Theo turned five months old today.  He's still a great sleeper and you can really start to see his personality coming out now.  He's started giggling at us, but it's still more imitating our laughter than truly initiating his own.  His head control is getting a lot better, but no progress on the sitting front.

He's grown a TON in the last month, too!  He's now weighing about 17.5 pounds and is 24.5 inches long.  These aren't incredibly accurate measurements because it's hard to measure a squirmy baby, but you get the idea!

That smile though?  That smile will light up a whole room.  I love that chubby-cheeked grin!

Daisy Progress

Lulu is making progress with earning her Daisy patches.  I hope to have them all finished before we leave for Europe later this spring.

And, here's one of the birdseed ornaments the girls made as their garden project to make their gardens better places for the birds.  Because every pretty daisy garden needs birds (and I was *not* into countertop worm composting!).
