After making Lulu a hat last year (or year before, I lose count) that instantaneously didn't fit her gi-normous head, I decided to use our scanner to enlarge the pattern piece, in the hopes that it would be big enough. Plus, I had an old (as in pre-dating my marriage) fitted sheet that was ripped/worn thin in a couple of places. So, I used some of my old fabric scraps from my pajama bottoms and the old sheet to make a cute hat.
And after a couple of hours (and one trip to the store to buy interfacing), we have a new hat that actually fits Lulu's head!
I didn't bother with the little tab piece at the top of the original pattern design. And I had to improvise the interfacing around the edge so the hat would keep its shape (otherwise Walter said I should just cut out two eye-holes and she could be that guy from the Fat Albert cartoons). I think it looks nice for a little girl who's almost 3.
Best of all, it fits all three of us, so if you need a hat, just send me a little fabric, and you, too, can have a nice hat for those sunny days!
