Roller Skating

Lulu went roller-skating at a local roller skating rink with the Girl Scouts tonight and two other girls from her troop were also there, Scotland and Maggie.  The girls all had a great time, even though none of them knew how to skate.

True to form, the video games were much more interesting than the actual roller skating!

Girl Scouts Color Guard

Lulu's group, the Rosy Quartzes got to be the color guard for the closing ceremonies on the last night of camp tonight.  Unfortunately, I couldn't make it, but Walter videotaped it for me.

Girl Scout Dabbling Rocks Camp

Lulu attended a day camp with Girl Scouts this summer, although it was really an evening camp from 3:30 until 8pm for one week which was awesome to have that time to ourselves.  The theme was Dabbling Rocks, so Lulu was assigned to the Rosy Quartzes with other GS Daisies.  All of the activities were rock themed and she brought home art projects every day.

Swimming Lessons

I enrolled Lulu in two weeks of swimming lessons with the same folks who run her after school program, Arden Manor Parks and Rec.  She got very comfortable being in the water and putting her face in, especially once we persuaded her to wear the goggles I bought her!  The lessons were a nice break in the late afternoon for Mom and me from our massive home renovations projects!

Lulu's first baseball game

As a break from the house renovation activities during Mom's visit, I bought tickets through our church to attend a baseball game with the congregation.  Lulu has never been to a professional baseball game and I thought seeing our local minor league team, The Sacramento Rivercats, play might be fun!

We had a good time gorging ourselves on stadium fare like dippin' dots, popcorn, peanuts, and frozen lemon ice while watching the Rivercats win their game.  An unfortunate accident happened when a woman walking up the stairs right in front of us got hit by a fly ball that bounced off a (thankfully) empty seat and hit her in the head....while she was holding a baby.  Amazingly, she handed the baby to a random guy sitting next to the aisle before collapsing on the stairs and the paramedics took her away quickly to get checked out, with the rest of her family following (including the baby).  It definitely brought home the point we were making to Lulu about watching the game and paying attention!

Afterwards, there were fireworks which I think was what Lulu enjoyed most of all!

Time with Mau-Mau

The highlight of Lulu's month was probably the two weeks that Mau-Mau spent with us, helping get the house in order for 2.0's arrival.  They had a lot of fun together.

22 Weeks.

Kind of hard to see, unless you know what you're looking at, but there's 2.0's face peeking out in the middle.  To make the visualization a little easier, imagine a sleeping Walter and you can start to see the nose and closed eyes (eyes won't open for several more weeks, but they can detect light and dark already).

We have black and white, 2-D printouts from the ultrasound this morning, but I surreptitiously snapped this one of the 3-D on our way out the door after the doctor left the room.  So, this is a cell phone pic of a computer screen, hence the bad quality.  But, I couldn't resist seeing this face a little better....

I will post a longer write-up of the ultrasound, but suffice to say that everything looks good so far.  There weren't any obvious problems with brain, heart, lungs, hands, feet, etc. and all the organs appear to be developing normally.

Eighteen more weeks to go....

Last Day of Kindergarten

Lulu's class had a celebration on the (technically next to) last day of school.  The kids got up and performed songs that they had learned throughout the year in Spanish.










And then, Maestra Martinez presented them with various awards. I'm proud to say Lulu made the honor roll!





Afterwards, we enjoyed a potluck lunch provided by the parents.  The kids were really excited to have their moms and dads there and definitely excited about summer vacation.



Lulu's hard work this year really shows in the grades that she received.  I'm especially proud of her natural ability in mathematics (her favorite subject in school).
