Halloween, part I.

Lulu's school expressly forbid the wearing of costumes to school for Halloween.  So, she didn't wear a costume to school.  She just happened to wear her German soccer jersey, soccer shorts and socks.  You know, typical Thursday gear....

Later that evening, we went over to Tina's house to go trick-or-treating with her and Shaya again this year.  Unlike last year when they came and trick-or-treated with us in our neighborhood, we trick-or-treated in their new neighborhood.  Karsten's girls were also there on vacation from Oregon, so we had four excited little girls who were raring to go!  I have some photos that I took with my digital camera once the trick-or-treating started, but this is the only one I was able to snap before they were off (and running!) around the neighborhood.

Stay turned for more Halloween pictures as I have time to upload them from my camera.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Lulu and her kindergarten class took a field trip (on a school bus!!) to a local pumpkin patch to participate in a hay ride and pick out their own pumpkin to bring home with them.  Unfortunately, it was on a Wednesday morning and I couldn't go *and* teach my classes that afternoon (travel times prohibited that), but the mother of one of Lulu's classmates was kind enough to snap a few photos and sent them to me.

So, here are a few photos of the morning, compliments of Kailiana's mom:

Lulu had her final soccer game of the season while her Oma and Opa were here to watch her play.  She progressed quite a bit from her skill level when she first started back in August!  She is always ready to play keep-away with her daddy in the backyard and really enjoyed being on a team and playing against other teams this year.  The league doesn't officially keep score, but unofficially they did win most of their games and ended on a high note with a celebratory pizza party.  Lulu received a little trophy for her participation and Walter received a nice 8x10 framed team photo as a thank-you for volunteering to be the assistant coach.

Family Night

Lulu's elementary school hosted their fall Family Night the first night that Oma and Opa arrived in town.  Opa was too tired to join us, but Oma had a great time, seeing Lulu's school and getting to meet her new friends and her kindergarten teacher!

We played bilingual bingo, listened to a story, and learned a little geography as part of the interactive activities.  But, we didn't stay for dinner--we went home and joined Opa for dinner instead.

Here are a few cute photos I snapped from the evening (in no particular order):
