Post-Christmas let-down.

Luludidn't wake up until almost 7:45am Christmas morning, but all of the excitement was too much for her. Once she finished her dinner, she conked out in her chair around 7pm.

hard to tell from this angle, but she's sound asleep!

Advent Kalendar, part two:

So, I meant to upload 2-3 installments of Lulu opening her advent calendar, but this month has gotten away from me and you will have to put up with one big installment of Lulu opening her advent calendar from Day 8 until Day 24.  Sorry!

For those of you who may not remember (and I don't blame you--I haven't posted much this December!), Lulu received an advent calendar by Playmobil this year and has really enjoyed opening the little doors each day.  As you'll notice, sometimes it's in the evening when she's opening them because we were in a hurry that morning and we all forgot.  And the morning pictures are pretty funny when you pay attention to Walter's face--he's SO not a morning person!

Without further ado, here's Lulu's 2012 advent calendar, part two:

And just in case the slideshow above doesn't work, here's the link to the photos.

Good Day, Sacramento!

A local TV station came to Merryhill this morning and interviewed the kids in Lulu's classroom about what they wanted for Christmas this year.  Lulu wasn't directly interviewed on TV (at least not that I can tell from these clips), but you can see her in the crowd.  She's wearing her grey nightgown with the ballet slippers on the chest and her black sparkle shoes.

Is it sad that what makes me proudest is that she's wearing her patch?

7 Days of Advent

We bought Lulu an Advent calendar this year from Playmobil.  She saw it in Barnes and Noble when we were there with my parents over Thanksgiving and recognized the Playmobil and she's finally old enough to start to get the idea behind an Advent calendar.  It took a couple of days for the whole idea to sink in--that she didn't get ALL the stuff ALL at once and could only open one door at a time.  But, I think she's got the idea down now because it's the first thing she asks for in the morning upon waking.

The Playmobil advent calendar is a royal wedding, complete with a castle background and wedding party.  So, the first present was the royal bride, of course!  She was followed by all of her gear this week:

Don't know what will come this next week, but I'm sure Lulu will love playing with it, too!  So far her unicorns and dolphins have moved into the castle with her princess and her old castle has been taken over by her frog (she has one of those wind-up frogs that does back flips--I think it's a riff on the Froschkönig märchen perhaps?).
